We want you to be successful in your studies and there are many opportunities and support available to help you whilst you are at the University.
The Attendance Management and Engagement policy sets out your responsibilities for attending teaching and learning events and for engaging in the learning opportunities offered to you. It also covers what the University expects and the approaches for managing attendance and engagement.

The University expects that you will attend teaching and learning events and engage in the learning opportunities provided as part of your programme of study.
Additionally, there are some modules and programmes for which there are attendance and/or engagement requirements that are mandatory, for example when attendance is linked to accreditation or contributes to an assessment.
Your School, Department or Programme team will be able to advise you on the details if this applies to your course.
Attendance: The University has a legal obligation to monitor attendance and academic engagement for students who hold a Tier 4 / Student Route visa. The Home Office UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements mean that failure to academically engage in the course for which the visa was issued may put a student’s visa status at risk. If a cause for concern is identified about your attendance or engagement the University will be in touch with you. In the first instance, this is likely to be via your university email and you may also be invited to a meeting with your academic tutor.
Your academic tutor will explore with you the reasons for any patterns of attendance or engagement that may seem concerning and will discuss options for support to help you to successfully re-engage with your studies.
If your attendance or engagement doesn’t improve or is particularly concerning, formal procedures may be instigated under the University’s Academic Engagement and Fitness to Study Policy. You will be advised in writing if you are entering a formal process. are available to support student's going through a formal process.
Academic and support staff at the University have access to a range of data sets which can be used to help review attendance and engagement and to offer additional support where appropriate. This includes information on enrolment, module selection, attendance at in-person and online timetabled taught sessions, use of the virtual learning environment and submission of coursework.
Limited staff involved in the review of engagement data may also have access to a flag that indicates if you are registered with the Disability Advisory Service and you have given your consent for this information to be shared. This does not contain details of any disability you may have declared. Similarly, staff may have access to a flag that indicates that you have made an exceptional circumstances request within the last 12 months. This does not contain any details of any exceptional circumstances you may have declared.
Data Protection: The Student Privacy Notice explains how your personal data is handled by the University and also contains details about your rights in respect of your personal data.
Sometimes things don't go to plan. You may find yourself in a position where you need a helping hand to make that deadline or grade. Access advice and assistance with your studies and exams.
If you are concerned about your engagement in your studies, or your ability to catch up on missed activities, you are strongly advised to get in touch with your Academic Tutor or Student Support Coordinator (or Henley Helpdesk or ISLI Admin Office) who will advise on the support that is available to you. They will also discuss with you whether it is appropriate to submit an Exceptional Circumstances request.

The International Student Advisory Team
Support for our International family. The international advisory team are there for you if you are feeling homesick or if you need help settling in to life and studying at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ.
If you are worried and need to talk to someone, university counselling and wellbeing are a confidential counselling service, who are available for all students at the university.
The student welfare team can help with a wide range of personal issues and are great starting point if you want to talk with someone.
